Executive Pastor
Kevin Dekoninck
Bro Kevin was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. While living in the Fort he completed his accounting degree and married his wife, Beth. Beth grew up in Atlanta and South Carolina. She has an adventurous spirit that has resulted in the two of them living in Indiana, Georgia, California, Virginia, Tennessee and even Niagara during the past four decades of their marriage. The DeKoninck’s have two adult children Brooke (Goodlettsville, TN) and Hunter (Indianapolis, Indiana) and four precious granddaughters.
Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds an MBA from Georgia State University. He spent the first 17 years of his professional life in large publicly traded corporations overseeing the financial reporting to the SEC. During this time, he wrestled with a call to vocational ministry. When 911 hit he stepped out of comfort zone and attended Asbury Seminary where he completed a master’s in divinity degree. Kevin has served nearly two decades as an ordained minister in a mainline denomination. When the denomination turned its back on the authority of scripture he turned in his credentials. While Kevin doesn’t necessarily carry an adventurous travel spirit he does enjoy work variety. While living in Nigeria Kevin served as the associate pastor at a bush church and co-pastored at an international church. This international experience forever etched Kevin’s life verse on his heart “To whom much is given, much is expected” (Luke 12:48). He has taught accounting for several years in colleges and universities, volunteered at pro-life organizations and has said yes to serving as OBC’s first Executive Pastor. While not working you can find him in his woodworking shop or playing with his Tennessee grandchildren. He has threatened to pick up his fishing pole, but he first needs to put his tools down. Family and friends know Kevin as a practical joker so watch your back.
